Why do you need to perform a functional check of valves?
AFS 2017:3 requires functional testing of pressurised devices and vessels. By ensuring the function of safety valves, you know that they are working properly. You also reduce the risk of equipment breakdowns (leading to costly downtime), you also prevent injuries. If regular functional checks are not carried out, the Swedish Work Environment Authority can issue a fine and, in the worst case, a ban on operating the plant.
The frequency of functional checks of safety valves is determined together with the inspection engineer from the accredited inspection body. The most common interval is 12-18-24-36 months.
Functional control in operation with smooth and safe handling
Our equipment is designed for mobile use in demanding environments, avoiding disassembly and transport of large valves. Thanks to the lightweight rig, we can also check hard-to-reach valves in operation.
When we test your safety valves, we assess the opening pressure, spring curve and tightness under normal operating conditions. Using stroke limitation, we can control runs on unhealthy media and thus reduce the risk of environmentally hazardous emissions.
